From a distance, the teen girl singing on the street corner caught Oscar & Jenny Mata’s (Mexico) attention. The teen’s father approached the people gathered to hear her extraordinary voice…including the Matas. Having lost his job, he was raising funds for a laptop that his daughter’s high school required. As they conversed, the Matas discovered that this was a Christian family who desperately sought a church to attend, disillusioned with their mega-church. The Matas invited the family to visit the church that they were planting. That weekend, a roommate from Bible Institute days came to visit Jenny. They had not seen each other for 17 years. When the invited family entered the church, Jenny’s friend jumped out of her seat and hugged the wife. They had been in school together as children and had not seen each other in years! The family now faithfully attends the Mata’s church on Sunday and has started participating in weekly church activities. Jenny is discipling the oldest teen. Although there are hurts from the past, they are growing in the Lord!
