April 10, 2022, was 50 years since the ministry began in a village in the Sahara Desert where no one had ever brought the gospel. In 1976, Steve joined the work his parents began. They encountered sandstorms, and scorpions (40 in four months), and lived in grass huts, gaining the confidence of the people. In all these years, only a handful of souls have been saved. And when persecution came, many turned back. Steve writes, “Through it all, God has been faithful. He has never failed to provide by one means or another. On one occasion we picked our Sunday dinner of potatoes off the street where they had dropped from a donkey cart driving furiously out of sight. The key has been prayer support…the many faithful prayer warriors… Whether it be a difficult or easy place, long years or a short while, among responsive or unresponsive people, when we know God has led us to that place, it’s not primarily to work for God, but to be conformed to the image of His Son.”
