Tips to Have a Successful Internship
- Pray continually for God’s direction and blessing
- Check your school’s requirements
- Involve your church leadership
- Look for an internship that fits the direction in which God is leading you
- Research the country and ministry you hope to impact
- Discuss expectations with the field supervisor or representative
- Look back to see how God has prepared you for this moment
- Look forward to seeing how this internship relates to your overall calling
- Gain all you can from pre-field preparation
- Make your support-raising a relationship-building opportunity
- Start a journal/blog early in the process
- Go as a learner, not a “fixer”
- Be a blessing to your field supervisor (and the Lord will bless you!)
- Take full advantage of debriefing and follow-up after the trip
