No one was really sure how old she was…in her nineties or maybe over one hundred. Ta had married young and had one daughter before her husband died unexpectedly. She raised her daughter as a single mom.  The daughter had many children and also died.  Ta raised her grandchildren and some of her great-grandchildren. Ta lived alone due to her disposition.  When FIM missionaries G & M (Venezuela) first met her, one of her great-grandchildren brought her breakfast.  When she sipped the coffee, she complained loudly about it and threw it as her great-grandchild ran off.  Ta then called M over to try the food before she ate it. A Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela church believer, planted by G & M, wanted relatives in the small town of Paso Nuevo to hear the wonderful news of salvation. The church rented a house from Ta—who lived right next door. Each Saturday morning, a group from Puerto Ordaz would drive the 1-2 hours to Paso Nuevo, hold a children’s club, youth activity, discipleship class, a prayer meeting, and return to Puerto Ordaz Sunday afternoon. After several months of observing the weekly classes with the children, youth, and adults, Ta donated the land next to the rental house to build a church.  When the building was completed, Ta would sit at her house and observe the church services each Saturday night. Every week, the believers would meet Ta and share the hope of spending eternity in the Lord’s presence.  Ta finally decided to follow Jesus Christ and was baptized in the river!  She had not been in a river in years but wanted to make a public stand for Jesus through baptism.  God was obviously changing her. In July, nearly the entire town came out for Ta’s funeral. G shared the Gospel message with them.  Several gave testimony of changes they had seen in Ta in the last years.  It was especially noted that as the end drew near, she was very sick, coughing, and then began to smile as she went to her eternal home!
